Our patent office which is established under Bahcesehir University Technology Development Center aims promoting patent and invention efforts both from university personnel and students. The office will carry out patent application procedures for the approved works and will work as an advisor and judge for the patent applications. Moreover such works will be evaluated and will be awarded by the university.

BUTECH Patent Office acknowledges and informs our university personnel and the students on issues such as branding, patents and industrial design topics to harness the dynamics of the university to encourage so that overall efforts go beyond academic research and education.
One of the main duties of our office is to determine the nature and quality of the research and development activities within the university evaluate the applications from applicants while informing them on the status of their works and apply for national and international patent rights. The national applications will be submitted directly to the Turkish Patent Institute.
Inventions that go beyond the known techniques and are applicable to industry are protected by patenting.

The known technique consists of the information, application or declaration by other means that is publicly available before the date of patent application.
The information on the application or post application dates initial documents are also regarded as known technique thus is not subject to another patent approval.
Purposes of Protecting Inventions with a Patent:
• Encourage invention activities
• Rewarding inventors
• Improving technical information by declaring the results of R&D achievements.
Discoveries, scientific theories, mathematical methods, financial and economical topics, lottery games, literature and artwork, inventions and issue against public order or moral values are not subject to patenting.
